Congratulations on being 28 weeks pregnant with Twins, you are now into your third trimester! It’s an exciting yet overwhelming time, with so much to learn about the Twins fetal development and we are here to help you every step of the way. Your twins each measure about 38cm (15in) from head to foot (crown to heel), and may weigh about 1kg (2.2lb) each.
They’re now sleeping and waking at regular intervals, and you may have noticed that they’re particularly active at certain times of the day. However, there’s no evidence that they’ll have the same routine after the birth as they do in your womb (uterus).
Your babies’ brains are growing quickly this month and their senses are improving. If you hold a bright light near your bump, you may feel them wriggling around as they turn their heads to face it.
Your twins are getting plumper and healthier every day. Their skeletons are hardening from soft cartilage into bone, and layers of fat are forming. Your babies’ head-to-foot growth may soon slow down, although they’ll continue to gain weight until they’re born.
If you’re carrying a boy or boys, their testicles are descending from inside their abdomens towards the scrotum. In girls, the clitoris sticks out, because the labia haven’t yet grown enough to cover it. This will happen in the last few weeks before birth.
If each of your twins has its own amniotic sac, each of these will now contain about 800ml (1.4 pints) of amniotic fluid. The amount of fluid will decrease as they get bigger and have less space in your womb.
